The first step when it comes to web application development is to come up with an idea for an application that you want to develop. There are all kinds of options here and really whatever you can dream up can be turned into an application. That being said you do have to make sure that the idea is a good one. There is little value to developing an application that really serves no useful purpose. You are also going to have to think about what is going to be involved in the development process. Almost any application can be created if you have unlimited time and money; however since most people don't you will need to think about things like budgets.

The next step in the development process is to come up with the plan. This is where you get into the nitty gritty of how you want the application to work. You are also going to need to think about things like what programming language should you use as well as how long will it take to develop the application and how much will it cost. This stage is where you go from the idea to actually coming up with a way to turn that idea into a working application.

The next stage would be the actual development of the application. This is where you get into doing the actual work of coding and getting the application to work correctly. You will likely need to gather a great deal of data as part of the process and you will need to be able to integrate all of that into the application. At the end of this stage you should have a working application but you are still not done with the development process.

The last step is the testing phase. This where you will work out any of the bugs in the application. You can be sure that there will be bugs so this is an important step that will probably take longer than you thought it would. The goal here is to create a stable application that will work the way it is supposed to. It is also during this phase that you will establish procedures for support. There are going to be people who have problems with your product and you need to have a plan in place for providing this support. It is at the testing stage where you figure out how you are going to do it.
